This itinerary starts with 5 nights in the north of the island near Rodney Bay at a luxury beach hotel on a secluded bay followed by 5 nights near Soufriere staying at a unique eco lodge in tropical grounds.
Your first stay is on the northern west coast of St Lucia near Rodney Bay at Calabash Cove Resort. Breakfast is included and taken in their dining area which has impressive views over the Caribbean sea. This small, peaceful, luxury hotel only has 26 rooms. It is about a 10 minute drive from the popular Rodney Bay. You will explore the north and east of the island on two day trips with an expert local birding guide, visiting some of the local agricultural communities, remote beaches, fishing villages and lesser known rainforest trails. You could also visit Pidgeon Island to learn about some of the history of the island, mix and dance with locals at the Gros Islet Friday night street party, have a spa treatment, relax on the beach and swim in the beautiful Caribbean sea.
You then transfer south to the UNESCO world heritage site of Soufriere en-route you will stop to do some birding at the local communities of Bouton and Despott and enjoy the breathtaking views. Fond Doux which is an eco-lodge which is set in a 250 year old working plantation a few miles from Soufriere. There are 19 individually crafted cottages set in beautiful grounds. There are cascading outdoor swimming pools, and an organic spa. The hotel offers a complimentary shuttle bus service to the beautiful Sugar Beach with views of the Pitons. You will learn about the history of chocolate and make your own chocolate bar and have a guided hike along the Tel Paul trail. You will be well situated for visiting some of the highlights such as The Pitons, Volcano and Sulphur Springs and Botanical Gardens. You could also take a catamaran boat trip at sunset to get some of the spectacular views of The Pitons or go dolphin and whale watch.

Below is an example day by day itinerary
Day 1
Met on arrival and transferred by vehicle to the north of St Lucia. Overnight Calabash Cove.
Day 2
Day at leisure. Enjoy a day relaxing at the hotel, swimming in the infinity pool or relax on the secluded beach. Paddle boards and kayaks are available to explore the local waters. Overnight Calabash Cove (B).
Day 3
Today you will have a guided trip with an expert local birding guide. The first stop on the east coast of St Lucia will be in search of some of the endemic bird species, such as the White-breasted Thrasher, St Lucia Warbler, Pewee and if lucky the St Lucia Black Finch. Other specialist birds to look for in this habitat are the Grey Trembler, the LA Saltator, Green Throated Carib and LA Crested hummer. The second stop will be the beautiful and lush Des Cartier Rainforest trail for the highlight of the day; the opportunity to see the spectacular St Lucia Parrot, the National Bird of St Lucia, and the most colourful parrot of the Amazona parrots. Then stop for lunch at a local restaurant located in the fishing village of Micoud on the east coast of St Lucia. Your final stop will be the Dennery fishing port where you can see the fishermen bringing in their catch of the day. Overnight Calabash Cove (B).
Day 4
Today you will explore the northeast coast, an unspoilt part of the island. On the way to Des Barrar, you will drive through the beautiful agricultural community of Babonneau, learning the natural history of the area. We embark on a bumpy journey downhill to Grand Anse beach, which is a famous spot for turtle watching. Many of the island’s endemic bird species, including the St Lucia house wren, the Rufus Nightjar and the elusive Bridle Quail Dove find refuge in this very remote habitat. Butterflies are plentiful as well as some skippers, dragonflies and other wildlife. Overnight Calabash Cove (B).
Day 5
Relax at the beach or perhaps visit to Pidgeon Island to learn more about the history of St Lucia. On a Friday night the place to go is the Street Party at Gros Islet with live music. Popular with the locals and visitors alike. Overnight Calabash Cove (B).
Day 6
Today you will transfer to Soufriere which is situated in an UNESCO Heritage site, close to the famous Pitons. On the way you will stop at the small community of Bouton to do some birdwatching at the edge of a tropical forest and enjoy the breathtaking views. Overnight Fond Doux (BL).
Day 7
Today you will have a tour at Fond Doux on their Chocolate Heritage Tour where chocolate is still produced. You will learn about the whole process from fermenting, drying, roasting, grinding, powdering, mixing, tempering and moulding. Overnight Fond Doux (B).
Day 8
Today you will have a guided hike on the local Tet Paul Trail. The Trail is nestled in six acres of lush, verdant land on a St Lucia World Heritage site. The trail forms a natural staircase with exotic fruits, trees and medicinal gardens. At the summit you are awarded with a view of the twin peaks and on clear days you will see Martinique and St Vincent in the distance. The hike is rated as moderate. Overnight Fond Doux (B).
Day 9
Fond Doux offers a daily shuttle service to the beautiful Sugar Beach. It departs at 11am and returns at 3pm. You can snorkel from the beach here where this is a good variety of tropical fish. There is a restaurant at the beach (Viceroy Hotel) which serves lunch and refreshments. Kayaks, paddle boards and snorkel equipment can be rented. Overnight Fond Doux (B).
Day 10
You could explore more of the highlights of this area such as the Diamond Botanical Gardens, Soufriere Volcano and sulphur springs, mud baths, waterfall. If you prefer a bit more active adventure you could take on the challenging hike of Gros Piton or go snorkelling or even whale watching. Overnight Fond Doux (B).
Day 11
Transfer by vehicle back to the airport in the south of the island from Soufriere (B).
