Day to Day
Below is an example day by day itinerary
Day 1
Met on arrival and transferred to your hotel in Panama City in the heart of the Casco Viejo (old town). Overnight American Trade Hotel (B).
Day 2
Today you will have a half day guided tour that starts at the Panama Canal, you will transfer to the Miraflores Locks where you will be able to see in detail ships moving along the canal and how it operates. You will then visit the Amador Causeway, one of the best panoramic views of the city. The tour then heads back to the Casco Viejo (old quarter) of Panama City and the historic centre of San Felipe which was declared a World Heritage site by Unesco in 1997. You will walk along the streets taking in the fusion of architecture from colonial, neo classic and french. Overnight American Trade(B).
Day 3
Transfer to the domestic airport and board a 45 minute flight to David airport in the north of Panama. On arriving in David you will be transferred to Finca Lerida in Boquete. The rest of the day will be at your leisure to explore the plantation and optionally the town of Boquete. Overnight Finca Lerida(B).
Day 4
Guided hike of the Pipeline Trail in the Bajo Mono Forest. Start with an easy ascent along a water pipeline. As you near the end of the trail you will hear the roar of the waterfall that marks the end of the trail, as the water falls from a height of 40 metres. If you are lucky you may get to see the Quetzal bird. The tour is approx. 3-4 hours with a specialist guide. Overnight Finca Lerida(B).
Day 5
Today you will enjoy an early start to zipline through the cloud forest before having a guided hike along the hanging bridges with your naturalist guide. Overnight Finca Lerida(B).
Day 6
Transfer from Boquete to the town of Chiriqui, where you will then take a shared boat to Isla Colon. Your hotel is centrally located in the town. The rest of the day is free to explore the area or relax at your hotel. Overnight Tropical Suite Hotel(B).
Day 7
Today you will take a tour of Oreba Farm, famous for its chocolate making. The tour starts from Bocas town pier where you will be met by a local Ngabe guide. The guide will take you on a hike through the dense forest to the farm, explaining the chocolate making process and looking for local wildlife, which may include sloths, frogs and a variety of birds. A highlight of the tour is the local women teaching you how to make chocolate as they have been doing for centuries. You will also be treated to a traditional Ngabe meal based on fresh local vegetables, rice and chicken. Overnight Tropical Suite Hotel(B).
Day 8
Transferred by private boat to Bastimentos Island and your hotel Palmar Beach Lodge. The rest of the day is for you to explore at your leisure. Overnight Palmar Beach Lodge(B).
Day 9
Discover the beautiful Bocas del Toro archipelago. This is a full day tour that starts at the tranquil Laguna de Bocatorito where you may be lucky to see dolphins playing alongside your boat. The tour then moves to Coral Cay where you can snorkel alongside the colourful fish hiding in the soft and hard corals of the reef. The tour finishes at Zapatilla Cays, with its stunningly beautiful white sand beaches and turquoise water, where you may see angelfish, butterfly fish, moray eels and even lobsters. A delicious lucnh at a beachside restaurant is included. Overnight Palmar Beach Lodge(B).
Day 10
Today is a free day to explore at leisure the island of Bastimentos, wander down to the red frog beach and enjoy spotting the poison dart frogs on the way. Overnight Palmar Beach Lodge(B).
Day 11
Transfer to Isla Colon airport, taking a flight to Panama city domestic airport. Upon arrival you will take a private transfer to the International airport to begin your journey home.
