Overview
Dominica has hundreds of rivers and waterfalls as well as unique landmarks such as the boiling lake. This is the second largest hot lake in the world and reaches temperatures of up to almost 100°c.
The country has an immense amount of stunning scenery and is so picturesque that it is home to many of the film sites for 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest' - most notably Indian River, which you can take a trip down in a canoe.
Visit the Kalinago people on the western side of the island; they are the largest surviving native community in the Caribbean and are a population of approx. 3,000 people. They are known for their crafts and traditional way of life centred around fishing, hunting and cassava farming.
This itinerary could easily be combined with surrounding Caribbean destinations, such as Tobago or Saint Lucia.

Below is an example day by day itinerary
You will be met at Dominica International Airport by a representative of Fort Young Hotel & Dive Resort and transferred along the Dr Nicholas Liverpool Highway to the hotel in Rosseau.
On your first full day, you could jump right in and get involved with what hotel specialise in. Snorkel, scuba or kayak the coast and explore the extraordinary sea-life, looking out for sperm whales, dolphins and sea turtles.
Included in the trip, you will take a guided boat tour up the Indian River into the Cabrits National Park, a haven for birdwatchers, and once the set of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.
Visit the Kalinago people on the eastern coast of Dominica and learn about their day to day lives, crafts, farming and hunting.
You will embark on a whale watching journey from the dock of Fort Young Hotel & Dive Resort. You’ll encounter Dominica's resident sperm whales or migratory species like humpbacks and orcas along with playful spotted and bottlenose dolphins. The trip takes 3-3.5 hours and leaves every Sunday and Wednesday at 2pm.
You can head out with a local birding expert to spot some of the Caribbean 'nature island's birdlife. Dominica has two endemic parrot species to look out for: the Sisserou (the national bird) and the Jaco. Afterwards, you could hike to waterfalls such as Victoria or Trafalgar, and if you are more advanced, then brave the challenging hike up to the boiling lake. The boiling lake hike requires a guide, whereas the waterfalls can be seen alone or guided if you'd prefer.
You'll be transferred back up to the airport on the north of the island ready to fly home or onwards to your next destination.
